January 1941: War rages across Europe. Exiled Belgian politician Victor De Lavaleye goes on air for the BBC. He suggests the letter "V"be used as a symbol of resistance against the Nazis.
"V" meaning Victory, and in Flemish, "V" meaning "vrijheid" or Freedom. The symbol spread throughout occupied Europe. Cigarettes, stamps, and stickers bore a bold "V". Even Churchill took up the symbol. As the war continued, One of the more famous examples of the V was the American Victory Eagle, featured on stamps with the words "WIN THE WAR".
This year's Core design is inspired by that spirit of resistance. The will to keep fighting no matter the odds. To unite and defeat evil.
V IS FOR VICTORY. V IS FOR FREEDOM.
